Uganda Safaris

Gorilla trekking and unique wildlife encounters.

About Uganda

Uganda is raw, soulful, and wildly underrated, in the best way. Known as the Pearl of Africa, it blends dense rainforests, open savannahs, crater lakes, and mighty rivers into one deeply immersive safari destination. This is where classic game drives meet primate trekking, where lions lounge in fig trees and mountain gorillas stare straight into your spirit. Uganda doesn’t scream for attention; it pulls you in slowly, then changes you.

With Horizon Nest Travels, Uganda becomes accessible, intentional, and unforgettable. Their expertly curated itineraries balance adventure with comfort, guiding travelers through Uganda’s diverse ecosystems with precision and care. Whether it’s tracking gorillas in the misty forests of Bwindi or cruising the Nile below thunderous waterfalls, every experience is thoughtfully planned and expertly guided.

Horizon Nest Travels also places strong emphasis on ethical tourism and conservation. By working closely with local guides, eco-lodges, and conservation authorities, they ensure each safari supports wildlife protection and surrounding communities. In Uganda, travel isn’t just about seeing, it’s about feeling, connecting, and leaving a place better than you found it.

Major Parks in Uganda

Uganda’s parks are diverse and deeply immersive. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is world famous for mountain gorilla trekking, offering one of the most profound wildlife encounters on the planet. Queen Elizabeth National Park delivers classic safari scenes with tree climbing lions, vast savannahs, and boat cruises along the Kazinga Channel rich with hippos and birdlife.

In the north, Murchison Falls National Park stuns with powerful waterfalls where the Nile forces its way through a narrow gorge, alongside abundant wildlife including elephants, giraffes, and lions. Kibale Forest National Park is the primate capital of East Africa, best known for chimpanzee tracking, while Lake Mburo National Park offers a relaxed safari experience with walking safaris, cycling, and rich plains game. Together, these parks showcase Uganda’s unmatched ecological depth.

Best time to visit Uganda

Uganda is a year round destination thanks to its equatorial climate, but the dry seasons from June to September and December to February are considered the best for safaris and gorilla trekking. Trails are easier to navigate, wildlife gathers near water sources, and game drives are smoother and more rewarding. These months offer prime conditions for both savannah safaris and forest adventures.

The wet seasons, from March to May and October to November, bring lush landscapes and fewer crowds. While rains can make some roads challenging, this period is perfect for birdwatching, photography, and travelers seeking quieter, more intimate experiences. Uganda in the rain feels alive, green, dramatic, and deeply atmospheric.
